Context

Hong Kong typically experiences a significant amount of rainfall during the summer months, with July being one of the wettest months of the year. The city's location on the southeastern coast of China makes it prone to heavy precipitation from tropical cyclones and the summer monsoon. Historical data from the Hong Kong Observatory shows that the average rainfall in July is around 393mm, but the amount can vary greatly from year to year depending on weather patterns such as El Niño and La Niña events.

Recent News

Hong Kong has exceeded its typical July rainfall in just 20 days, with extreme rainfall also threatening northern regions of China as the country enters its peak flood season. The unusually high rainfall in Hong Kong is highlighting concerns about the impact of climate change on the region.
