Context
The federal funds rate is a key monetary policy tool used by the Federal Reserve to influence the US economy, with historical base rates ranging from 0% to 20% since 1971. The current target range and future rate decisions will be determined by factors such as inflation, employment rates, and GDP growth, so watching the Fed's economic projections and policy statements will be crucial. As of now, the Fed's decisions are data-dependent, meaning the outcome will depend on the economic conditions in the years leading up to 2035.
